I'm looking to buy a new MBP (This will be my first transition to Mac). Part of me wants to wait for the new MBPs since it will be my first Mac but the price of a new one is too much and I would much prefer to buy a refurbished one.

So I'm wondering: How long until we see new the Macbook Pros REFURBISHED?

You're keen... There are literally 100s of threads asking the questiion, "when is the penryn MBP coming?" and you wanna know when the refurbished ones are going to be in the store ???

I think Squonk is saying that you have to give it 6-8 weeks AFTER they start shipping the Penryns (assuming they do ship them) before you'd have a shot at getting one that has: 1) been returned for some reason and then 2) is made ready for sale as a refurb.

I agree with Bamf. And my source? Personal observation over time.. :D

It really depends on how many returns / issues there are w/ them. For example, while it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks, as the previous posters noted, the refurb iPhones were in the store VERY quickly after release.

Seems like a moot point considering we don't even know when the line will be updated at all.:(

Not until quite a while. Probably when everyone starts making topics asking when the next revisions of the MBPs are coming out

Lets say that the new MBP comes out March 1st. You will not see a refurb until maybe June/July.

You might want to take into consideration the release of the MBA (5 weeks ago), and the fact that no refurbished MBAs currently exist on the market.

Seriously: why does everybody seem to think the Penryn will be a total revolution? It's going to be marginally faster than the C2D and will use marginally less power (which doesn't automatically translate into better battery performance, either). It'll take a year or so until the models with much faster CPU speeds appear on the market. The first ones will likely be 2.4 or 2.5 ghz. The current 2.2 or 2.4ghz C2D CPUs are already great performers.

so the question is: do you need a new notebook? Then go buy a refurb MBP, for heaven's sake. If you don't need it: maybe you just shouldn't buy anything at all.

So when the refurb penyrns come out will they be the same as the refurb SR?
