I was in Costco the other day and the 16GB Touch was $369.99 (in canada) ($419.00 at the apple store here). Is this a good price, is costco a recommended place to buy apple products? Does anyone know if it has the January software update?
Thanks!

I bought the 16gb one the other day from Costco. They are the updated ones. The Costco return policy is no-quibble 90 days so I went for that over Futureshop which is selling them for $360.

IApple authorizes the retailers to sell Apple products so it should be no difference from buying directly from Apple. Also, most retailers have a longer return period than Apple itself (90 day vs 30 day). Regardless of where you buy the Touch you still have the Apple one-year warranty. If you get an extended warrenty beyond the one year, the additional warranty is the store's policy not Apple's.

I thought Costco had a unlimited return period except on certain items (PCs - 6 months? TVs - 1 year?). Unless iPods are on the restricted list, you should be able to take them back anytime.
I myself have a 4GB iPod Nano I got last fall from Costco (not sure what gen it is.. the model is A1236 and it has a screen for watching vids).

definitely buy at costco, the return policy is way better than the Apple store even if it is 90 days.
Anyone seen a 32 gig touch at costco (US or Canada) yet?

Costco is THE place to buy ipods. Most importantly, the have a 90 day return policy for them (they are on the special list, at least in the United States, and 100% sure on this, although one can get away with complaining at Costco and getting their way much of the time), and its usually a couple of dollars cheaper.
At one point my Costco store didn't have 16gb touches, so there may be limited selection, but at this point I'd bet they all have 16gb at least, if not 32gb. 90 days compared to Apple's 30 days plus restocking fee is a great deal, and since there are no questions asked its like you get 3 months to try it out without any risk.
If you're thinking of this, then you're a Costco member, and you know how great they are, this is no exception (I actually waited a couple of weeks to get it there instead of Best Buy).

Damn, I've had my iPod Nano since early October so I'm a little over 4 months now. But maybe I'll try to complain and see what they say *crosses fingers

iPod touch 16GB is only $358.99 and the 32GB is $479.99 at Future Shop right now! Way cheaper than Apple for sure, and better availability that Costco it seems.
My 32GB is shipping right now...

Just picked up my 16gb here in the states at Best Buy. It was open box and I got it for $342 vs $399 brand new. There were 6 open boxed 16gb in the store and the manager was nice enough to let me inspect all 6 of them before choosing one. (how nice). The one I got was in mint condition (screen protector still on, accessories not even opened). My guess is that the person probably bought it the day before the 32gb touches were available :D

Anyone know Costco's price protection policy?
With the ipod touch price drop rumours should I wait a month or two to buy or will Costco refund the difference if/when the price goes down?
Thanks....

Within 30 days they refund the difference. If its outside the 30 days but less than 90 days, just bring the iPod in and try to get the refund. If they won't give it to you, return the iPod for a full refund and buy again at the lower price.

So far, in Canada I still haven't seen a 32gig iPt at Costco. Just saw it advertised at London drugs for $469!!!
Are 32g touchs now common at US costco's?

I'm in the market to buy an iPod Touch 32GB soon, and was considering it buying it at Costco too, but I was wondering if anyone knew if they offer an extended product replacement plan for outside the 90 day policy?
I've bought all previous iPods at Best Buy and bought their replacement plans and service plans, but I've been having bad experiences with Best Buy lately and pretty much want to avoid them for the rest of my life, so was wondering if Costco had an extended warranty or something similiar..
thanks in advance!

You need to read the new signs. They went in early last year, or was it 2006? 90 return policy on ALL electronics, now. Also clearly reprinted on your receipt if you buy something like an iPod.
One of the nearby Costcos has all 3 Touch sizes as of about 2 weeks ago, maybe the others by now, too. Haven't been in all of them in the last 2 weeks. I saw $490 for the 32GB.

Around here they are priced the Sam or a few cents from one another at Sam's Club or Costco. Last I looked neither in my area Lakeland FL had the 32GB Touch. BUt thats neither here not there, the best deal it at the refurb store. You cant beat 229 and 329 with 1 yr. warranties.

my dad called me up last week and told me that Costco had a displayed 2nd generation ipod touch that was still in the plastic case. They sold the 32GB ipod touch for $258! That's a stinking steal!!!!
Plus, they have a 90 day return policy...which is great because it's rumored that the new ipod touch will come out in June. So if they want to return it for the new one they can. :D

I work at costco, and have now for 13 years. within the last 2 or 3 years costcos return policy has changed only for major electronic sales, including but not just exclusive to all items such as tv's, stereos, computers, and ipods.
The return policy is 90 days, without question. after the 90 days, and from the date of purchase, costco has a concierge service that will help with technical support, manufacturers warranties, and replacement parts and or labor, which may have additional charges.
The reason for the change is that many consumers have taken advantage of costco's return policy for years, and the company only makes a small percentage profit on most items as it is. Many people were bringing items back after several years when the items quit working, and/or bringing items back getting a full refund and then buying updated versions (ex:computers) for much less money. Costco's return policy is still very competetive, and although it is not a "forever guarantee" it is much better than most retailers.
Also if the costco american express card or any Amex card is used to purchase any major electronic it will extend the manufacturers warranty by one year, but must be made in full on the card. Most items already have a one year, but costco's new policy warranties it through the company for two and extends it another year with the amex.:D
Hope this helps.:)

I guess prices are different depending on what part of Canada your from. I'm from Alberta & in Costco the prices here on the touches are>>>> 16 GB=$199.00, 32 GB=$299.00 & 64 GB=$399.00(we also only have 5% tax). My hubby bought me the 64 GB for Christmas in Best Buy & he paid $399.00 there.

Not at all. But what was true 2 years ago is no longer true today. The iPod touch is the same price in Canada as it is in the US give or take a few dollars.

For something recent to this ,
iPod touch 32 gb has gone down in price at walmart. I had bought my iPod touch 32 on 2/23 last month and it was 279 at a authorized reseller out of new York instead of the 299 at walmart. I looked at walmarts site today and it is 261.54 for the 32. Kinda similar situation when I got my first iPod, the 1st gen nano with photo, got it in may/June, during that summer, the 2gb had come along @ a good deal but I had already bought the nano lol. To any future reader reading this, basic apple economics here
price drops before upgrades, usually near spring/summer

So - I finallyhave the iPod touch 32gb.
charged it fine. How do I get to the applications?
Yes, I am that stupid.
I'm sure I'm not the only one. Just take it easy on me, I'm old.
Need some quick advice on how to get to applications.
It was a gift and I don't have a booklet or anything to read.
