Using iMovie08 AND FCE4

Hello All,

I'm new to using a mac and one reason I bought it was for video editing. I also picked up Final Cut Express 4. I have an HDV camera (Sony HDR-HC1) with lots of footage.

Which program should I use to capture the footage onto my computer? Is there any advantage of doing it in one vs the other?

Personally I'd use FC, but in your case, I'd use FCE4. FCE4 is much more intuitive than iMovie, so if you are wanting to edit video, start getting used to FC series ;)

Hello, If you are going to be really into video editing and want to have many effects, and become a video editor, then I recommend you use FCE, but if you want a basic video and want the video to be straight forward, with no effects, (since iMovie '08 doesnt have any) then I recommend iMovie. Hope this helps.
