What is the difference between a camcorder and a digital camera that can film movies? Sorry camera novice.

The typical difference is in quality of the recording and the format/codec used.
Usually still cameras that can record video/audio as well, do so in a limited way using a highly compressed format that isn't really intended for editing.
Most cameras designed specifically for video/audio recording use a higher quality recording format (although that isn't always true these days) and will allow for much more record time.
