I'm about to buy Leopard, but given that the 10.5.2 update was announced only 10 days or so, I'm wondering if Apple would ship any remaining 10.5.1 discs instead of a 10.5.2 disc.

I obviously would prefer to get an installer that upgrades me to the latest version, rather than upgrading to lepard and then having to upgrade to 10.5.2.

UPDATE: I chatted with an Applestore sales rep and she said they're not shipping 10.5.2 discs yet.

Apple do not update retail disks for every point version - they tend only to do it when a large number of important bugfixes have been rolled in. If I recall correctly, there were only 4 updates of the Tiger retail disk - the interim updates had to be downloaded even if you'd just bought a brand new copy.

Given that Apple updated for 10.5.1, it wouldn't surprise me if we don't see another updated retail disk until 10.5.4 or later.
