iPod New iPod HD--> Firmware needed?

If i replace the HD in an ipod of mine will I need to reload firmware?, if so how is this done?

with in itunes you can restore the ipod just plug it in and start itunes it should show up

what type of ipod are you trying to fix? i have replaced on harddrive for the exact size. on a 20 gig 3 or 4thgen ,cant remember, anyhow it work that way when i did it. but that was also a while ago.
