Am I missing something? The article says that VMWare Fusion for Mac OS X does not have this vulnerability.

Am I missing something? The article says that VMWare Fusion for Mac OS X does not have this vulnerability.

There are multiple OS applications for VMWare - ie. different products:
http://www.vmware.com/products/

Quote:
The vulnerability applies to Windows-hosted versions of VMware Workstation, Player and ACE. VMware Server is not affected because it does not use shared folders, and nor is ESX Server, which runs under a hypervisor rather than a host OS.

VMware officials have stated (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1004034) that the Mac OS X-based VMware Fusion and the Linux-hosted versions of its products do not have this vulnerability.

I think the point is what's this got to do with the Mac community

Maybe that once again Windows proves to be more vulnerable so we can feel smug?

I was aware that it was only a Windows vulnerability before I posted it.
