Cannot see Os X partition while on Vista (BC)

I installed Vista on the MBP yesterday, Boot Camp Assistant had partitioned the new volume it created but it seems it did so in Fat32.

Vista made me reformat it to NTFS saying that Vista will not install in Fat32, ok reformated via the installer and continued.

Now, when I get into Vista, I cannot see the OS X partition where all my documents and files reside.

Is this because of the reformat during install or is this normal?

Windows can't read HFS+ formatted volumes.

Windows cannot write or read HFS partitions without the addition of third party utilities so this is completely normal.

OS X can read, but not write NTFS, and can read and write FAT32.

No, Windows doesn't have a clue about the OS X partition and that's good/normal. Download MacFUSE and install it in OS X. With it you can write to NFTS partitions.

Ok, I thought that it would function as it does on Parallels, where the partition is mounted as a shared drive.

I *think* MacDrive (http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/) is the only game in town. Doesn't work with RAID volumes, but otherwise just sorta works.

Wrong way. This software allows the Mac to see a NTFS partition not Windows to see an HFS+ partition.

Tried Macdrive, works great. Since Vista cant install (without hackery) into a Fat32 partition, I guess I'm better off with XP so I can rewrite files as well and takes a way smaller footprint.

FYI I'm only installing Windows since I need I for work, I'm way to used to using tools that are available for Windows and I've found apps for OS X that do basically the same but it just takes longer for me to do the tasks since I'm relearning how to use them step by step.

PS: I've searched for a starter guide to the terminal in OS X but all articles were written years ago! Any suggestions?
