I installed Windows and the latest version of Windows Media Player, and found that I need a plug-in to watch DVDs with it.
So which one should I use? Is there any free ones?
Thanks

Interesting. I found that HP has a really old version of InterVideo WinDVD among their software/drivers for this particular laptop model. I downloaded and installed it, and magically Windows Media Player now can play DVDs just fine. No need to use WinDVD itself.
Yeah it's old, but it's free!

Is VLC better than Windows Media Player for watching DVDs?
EDIT: I just tried VLC. It doesn't seem to have closed captioning support, while Windows Media Player does.
So I'll stick with WMP using the codec from the old-but-free WinDVD.
