View Full Version : Better Harmony remote that works with ATV?

I assumed the 550 was the low end remote, but I found a site with the 659 cheaper than the 550. Is the 659 a better remote? i.e. is it the better deal?

I have a 550, and am very happy with it. I don't remember which model I got first, but it was very uncomfortable - hard plastic buttons, no soft-touch covering on lower case. The 550 is slimmer, has soft buttons, and soft, rubberized coating on lower case.

I made my own "device" for the Apple Remote, before Logitech added it to the library - works just fine.

I guess this really didn't answer your question, except that I don't think there's any quality issues with this model.

Just had a quick look on amazon and the Sony remote is 1/5th of the price of the Logitech....

Okay... it doesn't have an LCD screen.

But what are the advantages of the Logitech over the Sony?

Picked up a harmony one the other day for 150...good deal even better remote.

Stick with Logitech, ease of use and customization abilities are unbeatable. I have the 550 and would recommend it. I really want the 1000 for no reason aside that it has a cool factor.

FYI: we have a harmony 670 -- we like it a great deal. We use it
with our Tivo, HD-DVD, Apple TV...

Given that we use it with the Tivo, the button layout was important to us.
That was the deciding factor for which model to get. The two things that
have impressed me is the laaarge library of devices it knows about, and
the "help" function (correcting a device that somehow missed an change
in "activity").
