I know that i can't just weld on a new chip and get 16gb on my 8gb phone..... but can i replace the logic board?

If you sell your 8GB for $200 you will be out the same amount of money AND you will have a brand spanking new 16GB phone with a brand spanking new battery.

And not have to worry your iPhone having crap resale value because you replaced the board. I'm all for hardware hacking and if it'll get your rocks off then by all means do it, but there is no financial benefit to not buying a 16GB and selling your old phone.
