I just recently got an iMac, and have a few external drives in rotation now. I used to keep my itunes library on one drive for use with my macbook, but i put the music portion on the iMac's internal drive this time. I have a 250GB drive just about filled with movies, a 250 GB NAS drive filled, and i just recently bought a 320GB MyBook drive that I was using to boot an iBook with a dead drive.

I am planning on leaving my tv shows and movies on the external drives, but i have two back up questions. First is should i just use the MyBook as my Time Machine Drive now?

And how should I back up my Tv Shows, and Movies from the other externals.

Any tips is greatly appreciated.

You can configure Time Machine to back up your internal and all your external drives, but your 320GB MyBook is too small for that.

I have three drives on the iMac.

320 GB internal, 750 GB external, 1 TB External

All media resides on the 750 GB external

Time Machine backs up the 320 GB internal and 750 GB external to the 1 TB external.

I feel it is as safe a system as I need. In order to suffer a non-recoverable catastrophic loss I would have to lose the 1 TB Time Machine Drive and one other drive at the same time. In the event I outgrow the 1 TB Time Machine drive, than I will move media to the 1 TB, get a 2 TB drive for Time Machine.

Seems like it never ends! :D

haha yea, it does seem like a never ending cycle. I guess i will probably just start shopping around for another drive or two.
