How can i turn off the chime when i turn on my MBP?

Mute before shutting down.
Remember, this isn't Windows. Everything in OS X is so simplistic you'll often overlook the solution when learning the OS.

mute before shutdown doesnt work on my MBP Core Duo. so i use "Psst" when im at uni so i dont disturb fellow students with a loud "DUNG!"

I posted this in another thread asking the same thing. I have never tried this but I'm assuming this would work. If you replaced the sound file used during start up wouldn't that remove the sound? I replaced the start up intro image so I'm assuming this would work the same.
