View Full Version : Dumb Question : Reprogramming "Eject" key for those of us without a Superdrive

Just as the thread title says :

I glanced over at my computer today - was curious, how can I reprogram the "eject" button for something useful since I do not have a superdrive.

Better yet, is there a way to program the eject button to do something when there is no superdrive plugged in, and resume normal function when it is in use ?

Anyone else thought about this?

Well.. uh... first off, what would you want it to do?

Well.. uh... first off, what would you want it to do?

- activate spaces
- enter "force quit" mode
- sleep mode

basically, anything other than "not doing anything" as it is right now !

(I know there are hot corners for other things...but I am just interested in getting more use out of a non-functional button as it stands now)

Try your System Preferences:

Under the Mouse & Keyboard icon and then under the Keyboard shortcuts tab... maybe it'll let you use it.
