Alright, I felt like talking about this. Since it's probably late at night I probably won't get many responses.
Anyways,
My household speaks Spanish as its main language.
I know Spanish very well.
But, most of the music on my iPhone/iPods is in english.
Once in a while when I need to be calmed down I'll go to seeqpod.com and listen to some slow/soothing songs in spanish. I don't know why, but they always seem to bring me peace.
Anyone ever have the same sort of experience with music in a different language?
Even though I speak limited Spanish, even less French, and just a smattering of Hawai'ian and German, I sometimes find it refreshing to listen to music not only in other languages, but also from other countries (as their styles are different). I has several song by artists such as Shakira and Ricky Martin in español, because the english version has been played to death. I have some so J-POP and theme songs to Bleach and Naruto, also Daler Mehndi from India. But my favorite thing to listen to is the encore from the end of the 10th Anniversary show of Lés Misérables, where different Jean Valjean's from around the world sing "Do you hear the people sing?" in their native language, something about it always makes me feel better. However, my new thing is listening to the Vitamin String Quartet, which plays popular music in a classical style, and it is awesome!

I get a sense of enjoyment listening to music in other languages. Languages have always fascinated me. I have music in about 15 languages on my computer and always looking to add more. It gives me a sense of appreciation for other languages (obviously), cultures and peoples. :)

I love listening to Rammstein, although I speak almost no German - it just sounds so cool. I cannot imagine the songs working so effectively in English - it is the harsh guttural sound that appeals to me.

Anyone like myself with a liking of opera listens to Italian and German all the time. I also listen to a lot of Mediterranean groove type stuff, mostly in Spanish.

I listen to some Reggae/Danchall in French, German, and Japanese. (I don't speak any of those). I prefer German out of all three, with my favorite group being Seeed!

Grew up with a lot of classical, opera and sacred music in French, Latin, German, Italian. Still enjoy listening to music sung in any language.
I have a bunch of nonclassical stuff in mostly French and Spanish.
French: I love Francis Cabrel and even converted one of my ibooks into a region 2 DVD player so I can watch the concert that came with one of my CD purchases.
Spanish: Have tons of pop / rock / dance /regional music sung by US, Mexican, Argentine, Ecuadorean and Spanish artists.

I sometimes listen to the CBC French channel, and I find I listen more to the melody, harmony and musicianship when I can't understand the words. It is a different enjoyment entirely.

Some types of music just sound better in other languages.
My main taste is rock music in English, but I like a load of African music, and I have a soft spot for Japanese Pop
Check out some Utada Hikaru:

My extent of listening to music in other languages it either certain Dub/Reggae style music that's sometimes in Spanish or listening to Seu Jorge, whom sings in Portuguese.
