computer sometimes not appearing in finder

Hello
I have two MBP 2.2 SR on a home network - both with the latest leopard updates.

Occasionally the other computer will not show up in the sidebar in my finder window - even when it is online and awake.

When it doesn't appear - I can force-quit/relaunch finder
and suddenly its there

any idea why it is not always there?
