Network Icons for Non-Leopard Machines?

Is there anyway to assign machine-specific icons to non-Leopard machines that appear in the Finder Sidebar? I'm getting sick of looking at a Cinema Display instead of an iBook...

I think you can do it with the normal icon change with Get Info.

Okay, either that doesn't work or I'm missing something. I'm dragging the iBook icon (it's a .icns) to the iBook's Get Info, and it gives me the "No" sign (circle with a cross through it).

Ideas?

Okay, so I'm beginning to believe this is impossible without extra software.

the iBook G4 .icns file that I've picked out will not paste on top of the generic Mac Server icon that my mom's iBook G3 possesses on my sidebar. I've tried a number of means, including changing the file to .jpg or.png, but to no avail. In fact, I cannot stamp any icon onto it.

Help?
