View Full Version : Installing updates without broadband

After what seems likes a year of indecisiveness, I'm about to take the plunge and pick up a new Combo eMac and stick a gig of RAM in it and bluetooth (with a new Sony Ericsson T610 to partner with it). Having recently moved away from home I no longer have a broadband internet connection and I'm back on ghastly dial-up. My question is this: as and when software updates become available, will I be able to get my dad to download them onto his PC, burn them to a CD, post them to me, and then me install them on my machine? I believe some of the updates can be huge, and while I wish to stay up to date, I can't have the phone line tied up for hours on end.

Thanks for your help. I've been lurking here for a while and this is officially my first post!

Yes, I've done this for some Mac's before. Burned the 10.2.6 bin file to CD on my XP machine at work, then took it and launched the file on a B&W G3.
