macbook won't read blank dvd+r, trying to write on it. HELP ASAP!

hi, my few month old macbook isn't reading blank dvd+rs, and i am trying to copy another dvd onto the dvd+rs. PLEASE HELP ME! this is urgent. need help within a few hours.

i am pretty sure.. is it true that the combo drive can only write cds?

also, the dvd-r isn't being read on my pc either.
