In the 80's. It was pretty low-key, nothing to get my pic on the web over.
Of course, I had an earing then too.
In five or ten years that'll all be retro-chic and I'll be able to un-box my Sonny Crocket-esque sports coat and roll up the sleeves. Kajagoogoo, here I come.

Ooooooooooohhhh yeah, don't disrespect the mullet...
I had a monster mullet for much of the 80's, but wore it in a pony-tail most of the time (even worse?):D
It was a very Duran Duran thing, and I had the boxing boots to go with it;)

I can remember when they were cool, but I didn't have one.

when duran duran, mel gibson, and def leppard wore the mullets, the style was at large
on some level, there will be a mid 80s resurgence and mullets will come back and looked at fondly...whether this will happen next month, next year, or next decade is a speculation which marketing and advertising execs get paid big money to guess about
i was shocked, when a few years ago, platform shoes came back and now, people think nothing of it and might not remember when the style died a terrible death in the 80s:p

i'm reliably informed by my friend (bigwig in tony and guy, pub intended;)) that the mullet was very 2001/2002.
edit: i find that the bullet is a more disturbing haircut!

I have never had a mullet, although since I live in Alabama i've seen many. Afew family members have had them until recently. The fad back in the day was a mullet, chippawa boots, and a co-op dog food hat. that was considered the norm. But any average town here in Bama still will have those that are hunters, and thats where the mullets reign. Oh, BackToTheMac got a new car. sweet honda. Ask him. ------C. Smith

also in silicon valley, land of techies, the mullet (and bulging stomachs) were and are quite common...also star trek fanaticism and hating microsoft are also quite in character, too (and don't forget jolt and red bull...he he)
pick up programming books at any bookstore and look in the back where the author's page is...it could greatly add to the database of any mullet site on the internet:p

Mullets. Pssh. If you're not going to be a true longhair, don't do the mullet thing, or you're just a poser.

I went through the "Bono" phase in the late 80's-early 90's. That's where the hair at the TOP of the head is a longer length than the hair at the BACK - (VERY Rattle&Hum).
But I'd draw the line on Mullets. Can't handle them - never will.
And for that, I'd like to thank Billy Ray Cyruss very much...

Lucky for me, I was a wee bit young to be into the mullet thing in the 80's. I did have some sorta long hair thing that I had to hide during high school though. I even had long hair, about down to my shoulders nearly, right after high school.

sweet fansy moses? whos says that still? i know you just did but i gather its a phrase that should have died a long time ago. at least it sounds like it should have died. its like one of them "oh foot" exclamations.
upscale proper slang wrapped in a 19th century dolie.

I grew the mullet a few years ago just because i thought it was hella funny :)
It lasted all of a few weeks, but still, good stuff!

I had a mullet in the early to mid eighties, when I was to young to decide. My mother insisted on it. I guess it was appropriate, considering we lived in a trailer park until around '85ish. And, mullets are still very much in style when you travel east, west, or south of L.A. (Lexington Area) Kentucky.

I had a mullet in the all through the 80's. I had the spiked top with bangs and the long hair in the back. Looking back that hair cutt was the worst i ever had.

I had one about 4 weeks ago, actually it was more of a Robbie Williams but call it what you wish it was a prime mullet!
