View Full Version : Help with preview

I am wondering about the different previews for the same 'type" files.
I'll backup a bit and say I am a bit of a switcher. I have very limited knowledge of Macs before OS X. I have come from the Windows/DOS/Linux world.
I'll continue ...
I have files, all *.jpg. When I look at them with "Super get Info", generally the type is "JPEG", but some have been blank. The creater can be different and this seems to infer which application will open it.
Some have a thumbnail view of the image some have an icon. This seems to correlate to the size of the resource.
I would prefer a more consistent view, like that thumbnail.
What is happening? what do I do for a more consistent look?

Open finder to the directory of choice. Click on the icon view. Click on the 3rd drop down box (with the gear on it), choose view options. Select icon preview - TADA!!!

Is that what you wanted?

Yes, but ...
Are you using Panther? I'm still on Jag, but I did manage to find the window for icon views.
Now, when I click on/off the icon preview checkbox, some go back and forth from an icon view and preview. Some don't.
Whats the difference?

By the way thanks for the help.
