Totally ridiculous smiley question

I get ':p'

However (!), when I type:

:P

I get ':P'

Hahaha. It's really minor and not even worth the time it would take to read this thread, but I'm just used to typing :P. I'm not a smiley addict or anything, just, uh... I'll stop now. ;)

Your observation on typing out that particular smily, on the other hand, is 100% correct.

The reason that smilie characters are case sensitive is that they are simulating the appearance of the smilie. In contrast, tags like [b] for bold aren't case sensitive.
