I am currently beginning to work on application and was curious if a forum could be created for people to share source codes or help etc?

Sounds like we need a general Programming category with sub-categories for
1. Mac
2. iPhone/iTouch
3. Web
I always wondered why web design and programming were one combined forum topic.

A lot of the Mac and iPhone programming is similar though since it's all Cocoa. I say we just rename the Mac Programming forum to something more general, maybe just "Programming"?

Why not have Cocoa (Mac and iPhone), Web and Other for Java/.NET/Whatever.
I would think it should go into the Mac Programmer forum.
That forum isn't very trafficked. that being said all the SDK talk could be distracting to Mac programmers.

Except Cocoa isn't the only API used on the iPhone or the Mac :)
arn is right though, there isn't much posting in general. We got a surge from the SDK but it'll probably be temporary and level off.

Well maybe Cocoa/Carbon would be a better choice.

Forget that. iPhone development is hot. You want a nice landing place for anyone who Google's "iPhone development forum", "iPod touch developer", or "iPhone SDK", with an obvious title like "iPhone Developer Forum".
Some developers will have little or no interest in Cocoa/Mac programming itself, only on doing stuff on their iPhone (except that Steve was sneaky about causing them to learn Cocoa/Mac programming anyway, whether they know it or like it or not, when they start with the SDK tools :)

Totally agree. I'm one of those folks who just Googled. This is the thread I ended up at.

i'm wondering if, now that the iphone sdk is out, might there be enough traffic to justify an iphone specific forum?
i'm writing apps for the iphone/ipod touch, but not the mac. i'm guessing there might be others in the same situation.
ModNote: Merge post.
