Sound Quality on 5G ipods vs 2 GB nano?

I feel like the sound is not as loud/clear on my ipod 5g. Am I imagining things?

My 5G iPod is louder than my 2G nano. But mine are European models and the 2G nano is more recent and may have a more restrictive volume cap. As to clarity, I haven't noticed any difference.
