Last time I launched Safari, it gave me an error message about keychain access and all my preferences were gone. After being away from the computer I came back and after a few sites Safari crashed. This time on launch it gave me the same error, and erased all my bookmarks. What is going on!?! Are all my bookmarks gone?? I've only used Safari, so it had all my bookmarks, and they are ALL GONE!!!

I did an upgrade install of Panther in hopes to get Safari back. I got Safari back, but EVERY OTHER user preference I have is gone. iTunes library is corrupted, all my preferences everywhere in every single app I have is GONE!!!!!
*insert massive string of expletives here*
As it turns out it was just that somehow my keychain had become corrupted, I ran keychain first aid, but it's too late.

It wouldn't be in a folder named "Previous Systems" in the root of your drive, would it?
This is apparently happening to a lot of people, myself included. Apple needs to respond to this issue - not sure if FileVault is causing the problem, but it might be.
Meanwhile, try the following:
1. Run Keychain Access.
2. From the Window menu, choose "Keychain First Aid".
3. Click "Verify" and see if there's a problem with your "login" and/or "system" keycains.
4. If there is, click on "Repair".
