Anyone else find it odd that the BBC can't find a way to provide a Mac version in a timely manner, yet there is already an iPhone version?

Nope. The iPhone version is streaming only, and there's been a streaming Mac version for some time.

The streaming they can pretty much sort themselves. The download service *has* to have DRM that supports seven day timeout, so the Mac service either has to wait until Apple licences out Fairplay (and the BBC has asked) or someone else makes a functional Mac DRM. Adobe AIR might do eventually.
