Ext Hard Drive no longer recognized

Don't know what I was thinking, but I disconnected by WD external hard drive that I use for time machine without properly ejecting it from iMac. Now when I try to reconnect, iMac and TimeMachine do not see any drive connected. Anyone able to help?

Check it with Disk Utility.

Edit : Sorry thought you mentioned a PC machine, oops.

I found another discussion that basically said to shutdown and unplug mac and the HD for a few minutes and the plug in and reconnect everything. Actually worked. Time Machine reconnected like my little problem never happened in the first place. Thank you to those who replied.
