View Full Version : USB 2.0 PCI card in Mac Pro?
I'd like to transfer my USB 2.0 PCI card from my outgoing PowerMac G4 to my new Mac Pro. I think that PCI cards fit in the PCI-X slots, but I'm not 100% certain. Advice please.

The Mac Pro only has PCI-Express slots. They're not backwards compatible with your PCI USB 2.0 card. Keep in mind the Mac Pro does have a lot more USB ports to begin with when compared to a Power Mac G4. You might not need more ports.

Yeah, I need more ports.

Here's (http://www.clubmac.com/clubmac/shop/detail~dpno~7004609~name~USB+2.0+5-Port+PCI+Express+Card~mfg~F5U252.asp) a belkin PCI-E USB card. Just pointed that link out for reference, but I think you can find it cheaper on eBay.

Here's a list of even more cards (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/usb/add-ons-and-hubs/pci-pcmcia-cards).
OK. Thanks everyone. I don't need more ports bad enough to spend $60. I was mostly hoping I could transfer my current PCI card to my new workstation, but I guess not.
