Which Mac to Buy?? [Archive] - MacRumors Forums

I have a 4yr old Kihei iMac without firewire. I want a new machine with power and one that I can upgrade. I am a home user that wants graphics intensive for photos and video. I like the lcd screens. Budget is an issue. It's a toss up between the g4 17" iMac and a dp g4 Power Mac. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Upgradeable? Seems like you already want the tower.

upgradeability = PowerMac

No way around it, non of the other machines offer upgradeability.

But when you think of the LCD screens for a PowerMac -- LCD for PowerMac = $$$$ -- when budget is an issue.

you'll be able to put a better graphics card in the powermac, which sounds important to you. The 5200 w/ 64 MB in the imac isn't bad, but it's not the best, and it's not upgradable.
