Hey everybody, I'm very new to this, so be prepared for some stupid questions ;)

I'm wanting to record television to my 24" imac, from my Cox Cable (motorola) HDTV & DVR box.

I've heard slingbox, but I'm not sure if thats an option, my only option, best option, so on and so forth.

The computer and the box are about 10 feet away, the box has all sorts of outputs, and like I said, it does have a dvr feature that I'd be using a lot to transfer. That's about all I know.

Could anybody kindly explain where I go from here? I'd be very appreciative, thanks in advance!

From what I understand, Slingboxes are used to stream content. It's not really meant to be used for recording.

For your needs, I'd suggest you visit http://www.elgato.com and read up on their offerings.

Thanks a lot, looks like that might be what I need.

I think if I get the HDhomerun box, I could run a cable out of my Cox box, into that, and then wirelessly send it to the mac to record, which would be very sweet. Someone correct me if that is wrong.

Thanks again.
