I was wondering if i could burn a DVD to my computer(handbrake) and then burn that movie back to a DVD. Would the movie i burn in handbrake have copyright protection or whatever.

If you use a program like MactheRipper (http://www.mactheripper.org/) it will extract the DVD to your hard drive. It also removes copy protection (which may or may not be illegal, depending on where you live). Burning it back to a DVD will NOT put copy protection back on it.
Im sorry, i forgot to say that i have handbrake. i was wondering actually, if after i burn it to my hard drive, how i would burn it to a DVD so i could play it on a dvd player.

roxio toast costs 80 bucks but I guess it's worth it, if you don't enjoy doing illegal things, if you do, there's always a way to get it 😉. Anyway, that would work.
