just sold my 2.4 mbp santa rosa and buying a 2.5 mbp penryn. Who here has switched from a santa rosa mbp to the new one?...and are you happy you did?

pretty sure they are both santa rosa machines...penryn is the processor inside the santa rosa chipset...montevina is the next chipset update coming later this year...

...so, the answer would be, nobody has.

Done. The only reason I did it is because I didn't want my 2.2 to lose too much value before montevina. I'm going to sell this one again right before June.

Now I can see why there are so many recycled computers in the world. Find another hobby dude, you don't need to change computers every 6 months, that's really extreme.

still using my core duo 2.0Ghz MBP 15". First model released, it's over 2 yrs old now... still cranks too.

Will probably upgrade later this year. would be nice if there was a high-res 15" display coming...

you guys are treating your MBPs as if they were cellphones..
oh well, if you're just surfing the net anyway..
then it won't be hard and tedious to transfer any files at all every six months😀😀

I wanted the extra gpu ram and the battery power....thats why I am going to upgrade.

just crazy

i keep my computers for a looong time

i thought it was too soon to go from 1ghz g4 to cd 2 ghz at the time

Nope, dont really see any real reason too. The multitouch trackpad was the best upgrade imo, but not worth the loss I would take if I sold this one.

I agree with not changing computers every 6 months. This is a perfect example of our society today, everything is disposable. It's no wonder there is so much credit card debt and mortgage defaulting in the US.

I keep most of my computers for 4-5 years and make do, not because I can't afford to replace them every 6 months, but because the money used to buy them doesn't grow on trees!

at the end of the day..
the one with the shiniest and brightest.. also has the highest credit card bills😀

just trying to help you guys out with your US dollar by supporting a US company....LOL😛 In six months $1 can=$2 US......just kidding. But we still have NO iPhone...😱

How much can you sell a SR MBP for anyway? I have what's in my signature.

*ponders Penryn

Nope... makes no sense to me to jump from one generation to the next. The real life gains will be insignificant.

I upgrade my laptop every 3 years.
