Are you guys running a third party mac uninstaller or just searching for and deleting the files. I have just been using the search program and deleting everything that comes up but ive heard that doesnt clear everything off the computer
 
99% of the time, just dragging an Application to the trash will remove everything you need to remove, except preference files. Unlike Windows, there is no registry to screw up by doing this. If you want to make sure all trace is gone, then look on Versiontracker.com for uninstall or cleaner programs.

I use AppZapper which seems to do a pretty good job. It costs a little $$$ though. I think there are other, free, programs available though.
 
Larger applications like the CS3 suite or Office 2008 have their own uninstaller scripts, but usually, yeah, you can just drag an application straight to the trash. Although I like to use AppZapper, as it deletes not only the application but it finds all the related preference and system settings and undoes them. Those preferences files can take up a lot of space.

...and it makes that cute "ray gun" sound when you do uninstall something. 🙂

Nevertheless, one more thumbs up for AppZapper - works great.
