Currently weighing options for a purchase. An iMac is a possibility but I would need a second monitor. I know the 20 inch uses a TN panel so looking at the 24 inch.

Does anyone know the exact panel used in the 24 inch iMac so I can try to match it with a second monitor?

Any suggestion as to monitors which go well with the 24 inch iMac?

Thanks

There's some debate whether it uses H-IPS or S-IPS.

Mine has an LG.Philips LM240WU2-SLA1, S-IPS, 8-bit.

24" white iMac: LG.Philips LM240WU2-SLA1

24" ALU iMac: LG.Philips LM240WU2-SLB1

NEC's LCD2490WUXi also uses an LM240WU2 panel, but NEC uses much more
sophisticated electronics than the iMac. Each panel is electronically corrected
on a pixel-by-pixel basis to eliminate mura and backlight nonuniformities.

Install SwitchResX and export your DDC. At the bottom of the exported file you'll have your panel info.
