It's November. Time to get that halloween desktop off your screen.

If you've got something in black and white, check out shadowfax's thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45244).

Well the edge is distorted because I'm doing some work for a friend, and I don't know if he would want it shown. It's a combination of Terragen (3d Scenery Generator) and Photoshop.

Looks like it. In all fairness, they're not the same thing.

Of course, it beats one November Desktop thread starting in mid-October. ;)

My first MR desktop :). No Panther yet, though. In Europe, they ship it as a normal parcel (which means it takes up to 10 working days...).

here's two parts of my trifecta that's up right now:

the extended desktop:

the powerbook:

I have Kontent, WhatTuneski, and Battery up. The icons on the desktop are my Baldur's Gate II walkthrough and the Classic drivers for my iShock II.

RobVanDam
Nov 2, 2003, 12:29 AM
That Battery Up everyone seems to be using, is there any use to it besides looking pretty and showing an approximation of the battery life?

Daveman Deluxe
Nov 2, 2003, 12:39 AM
RobVanDam:

There is no other use for it. I use it instead of the menu bar icon because this way I don't freak out when I see the "time remaining" estimate.

RobVanDam -- Ah! A word I don't know the meaning of! :o

1. The deriving of sexual gratification, or the tendency to derive sexual gratification, from being physically or emotionally abused.

2. The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from being humiliated or mistreated, either by another or by oneself.

3. A willingness or tendency to subject oneself to unpleasant or trying experiences.

Responses to each definition:
1. No... not really anything sexual going on by posting that.

2. Again... no Pleasure I have received.

3. Um... no.

So... No.

This a beautiful desktop from Red Hat Linux, so beautiful its the default background from the distro. If you want it you can grab it here (http://mac15.ambitiouslemon.com/Default.png.zip) . Download it, its very much worth it

Description
Now this is a working mans desktop, I have all my main apps running while working on some designs in photoshop. Exposé makes quick work of all my open windows, I do keep everything clean by hiding apps.

I'm running the new Photoshop CS, for me its not really a bit upgrade and its not at all faster. I guess for über pros its the best thing since sliced bread.

You get a view of my über clean home folder, and a bit a preview of a design I'm putting the finishing touches on now. It reminds me a Zoo York shirt I saw once.

I'm listening to Feeling This (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=2903079&selectedItemId=2903075) by the kickass band Blink 182 (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?artistId=116851) . Now them links should open up in iTunes Music Store , now how damn nifty is that!

now for the image!

It's a Ginkgo - Ginkgo biloba. The same tree they use to make the herbal supplement you can get in health food stores. Since it's in your yard, I'm guessing it's a male.

Spend some time hanging around here and you'll become a pro yourself. I remember when I switched from PC to Mac I was clueless until I stumbled upon Apple Insider and the guys on that forum got me through the first month or two as I transitioned from a die hard PC user trying to figure out Mac OS to a Mac addict. I didn't know the first thing about Unix or OS X back in April when I found Mac Rumors, but after a summer of posting and reading other posts, now I am fixing other people's OS X systems and messing around in Unix and customizing OS X as if I were using it for years.

That's interesting. Your the only other persons I have ever met in any of these desktop or babe threads to have that desktop. That's in the 6 years I've had it.

your whiteout looks pretty sharp, though i prefer the demetallifizer alpha, myself. i hope you backed up your theme before installing it.

who's the girl?

i guess i may as well add my latest grayscale here too...

I like the finder whiteout as well. Looks much better than the default grey. The girl is Kristin Kreuk. She is the only reason to watch Smallville IMO. =)

Linux desktops usually look really awesome, I've always been interested in learning to use a Linux OS, but the last time I tried running one on my last PowerBook, it wouldn't boot and I had to spend quite a while fixing it, so it's left me a bit hesitant.

btw if you want to try it, try to put your hand on an older x86 hardware. that's cheap, and by far enough. ;-) except if you want to do some real work on it. - rendering and so on.

and use debian. it s perhaps a slight bit more complicated during the install but the system is by far the best. thx apt-get :)

I was looking at installing Gentoo Linux on my 400 MHz Lombard PowerBook since I have been unsuccessful at selling it, but when reading the website, it said I had to format the HD and I am just a bit uneasy about getting rid of OS 9.2 and OS 10.3 just to play around with Linux.

That is a very nice use of expose there taeclee99. All of your pictures of Kristin Kreuk are very nice. There is just something special about a brunette and a red dress. All of that on a desktop would be very distracting.

Well here's my contribution. I know it's been a while but I just haven't been into this. I just came across this and it's so nice I just had to share it and do it without the folders and icons on it, in it's original glory.

That is a very nice desktop picture MacBandit. There is just something about the blue sky, blue ocean, shoreline, and a nice looking brunette with the wind blowing her hair.

Yes, it's so nice I just had to share in it's original uncluttered form. Glad you like it.

Try www.allposters.com and do a search for Panther. It seems to turn up more posters then even the big cat place does.
