View Full Version : The really really really really really really loud thread

Which song is the ultimate awesome of awesomness when played really really really really really really loud. I'm talking about all the way up to 11 here.

I'd say Voodoo Chile (slight return) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=layTKmyJyBY) by Hendrix. You really do believe that he can stand up next to a mountain and chop it down with the edge of his hand.

Dig?

Dreadnaught by Machinae Supremacy. Find a nice quiet room alone, put in Personal Monitors, turn it up high enough that it doesn't hurt, but tunes the world out.

Pure bliss.

Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai or Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick by Ian Dury & The Blockheads.

Both are brilliant pieces of music, and almost impossible to easily classify into any particular genre. Is Space Cowboy Jazz, Funk or Soul? Very difficult to say.

What about Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick? Is it rock, funk or again, jazz? Still sounds unbelievably modern and recent, despite it's age.

The great thing about both songs is how well they 'get going' and drive towards the end.

Anything by Mogwai or My Bloody Valentine.

Especially "Stop Coming To My House" or "Sometimes," respectively.

EDIT: Ooh, also the entire "Alive 2007" album by Daft Punk.

Timeless/Innercity Life/Pressure/Jah (21mins album track) — Goldie

Never fails to gear me up for work. Sizzling old-skool breaks and ultra-sub rolling lines. Beethoven's 5th isn't too bad, either.

Barber's Adagio for Strings, as I prefer for the climax to be just under the threshold of pain (literally).

I also agree with rdowns suggestion of Dark Side of the Moon by the Floyd.

Oh, and Gelk (or anything) by Autechre and Walk by Pantera.

At the moment, 'really, really loud' is saved for:

"Sunshine the Werewolf" by The Dillinger Escape Plan
"Black Bubblegum" by The Dillinger Escape Plan
"Imagine" (cover) by A Perfect Circle
"Archangel" by Burial
"Digital Sea" by Thice

That's my 'morning wake up' play list...

I assume that we are talking pushing at over 250 continuous watts.

If so, then these two come to mind:
