When I first saw this ad I thought it was one of the funniest and most messed up thing I've seen... (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23358686-421,00.html)
Too bad there are too many complaints about it so I doubt we will be seeing it again....

Pretty clever. I've seen other uses of the beaver in advertising contexts where it was pretty tasteless, but this one had a sort of a wink-wink nudge-nudge aspect to it that made it pretty funny.

From the OP's link:
Kotex research found people in that age group had 181 alternative names for the vagina and 94 per cent said they used nicknames for their own genitals.
I've come up with 174, but what are the others?

I even went to Oregon State (our mascot is the Beavers). Actually, that's where I saw the advert that I found tacky, on a street sign for a salon near campus.

The ad in question is better than 95% of American network TV. I guess we should Leave it to Beaver more often...

What's wrong with euphemisms now? I thought that's all they could use. A beaver seems a good, safe choice to me. I mean, they couldn't show a bacon sandwich having a manicure. That would be far too gross. Is there such an animal as a punani?

I thought you were referring to the GoDaddy.Com ad with Danica Patrick. I believe they were the first to release their Beaver ad (http://www.godaddy.tv/gdshop/media/play.asp?mediaID=exposure&ci=11592&tab=racing) :p

Times have changed. People need to loosen up and let GenX have their commercials.

Well I thought the ad was hysterical.
For demographic purposes, I am a female in my late 20's, I minored in Women's Studies, and I thought that was a hell of a lot less offensive than some of the other ads I see...

The ad's alright, it's clever, but it's nothing that would make me jump out of my seat in either applause or disgust.

The beaver was cute! I didn't think it was a stellar commercial but it was good. It's kinda hard to make a commercial about tampons so what do they expect.

Thought it was kind of funny/cute for a tampon ad. Can't remember the last on I saw in TV.
Just yesterday i was watching an old Disney show about a young beaver making his way back home after getting separated from his family. Coincidence?

I would expect this in America, but not from the Aussie's!
This ad reminds me of the pregnancy test commercial that goes "it is the most advanced piece of technology you will ever pee on" and shows a stream of pee falling down on it. I couldn't BELIEVE that got past American censors.

I thought it was pretty funny and couldn't really see anything overly offensive, then again, im not a woman, but still, it makes a change from all the "NOW MORE EXTRA ABSORBANT TAMPONS-PONS-pons (echo)" urgh, imagine a tampon advert done to the style of the powerthirst videos....

Absolutely luved it! Brilliant. I wish I were that creative. I wouldn't have even thought of using a 'cat' let alone a beaver.
