I'm in a SOAD tribute/covers band. System are pretty damn awesome, I'd say.

Favorite songs? Probably (to play) B.Y.O.B, Mr. Jack, and Spiders. :cool:

Although they have been on a hiatus/split. Serj Tankian (singer) has put out a solo-album. It's very SOAD-like.. check it out.

they're a good band. shame that they're on an indefinite hiatus so who knows when and if we'll ever see something new from them.

i can't stand serj's solo album except for a few tracks.

The problem with SOAD is the person who told Daron he could sing. His vocals ruined the last two albums.

Love SOAD. One of my favorite bands. :D I thought the last 2 albums we're very good.

Serj's solo album is ok, the 'Serart' stuff was gash though.

I like a few of their songs, My favs bring B.Y.O.B, Toxicity, Question! and Hypnotize.

I still think they're a little weird though...

I used to really enjoy them, but only a tiny portion of their songs are enjoyable now.

My favorites are: Tentative, Sad Statue, and Question.
(Arguably their three most musical songs)

For those of you that enjoy them, if you don't mind not understanding (unless you understand Japanese) the lyrics, try listening to Maximum The Hormone. They're sorta Chili Peppers meets System.

Edit: The only song that Daron's singing actually works in is "She's Like Heroine"

I liked them way back when they came out, I was in 7th grade then. I don't like them at all now, or anything in that genre for that matter. It's amazing how much your tastes change after you get out of high school!

I have to sort of buck the trend here and say that I think that System of a Down is probably the worst band I have ever heard. They are the only band that makes me laugh when I hear their songs because of how bad they are.

I can't see what anyone sees in them. They sound like they're trying too hard and failing.

i think their debut album was their best stuff.

my favorite track off that album is 'soil'
(i love that little bit of melodic guitar through that one little part.)

although i gotta say that those first three tracks can really rip you a new one first thing in the morning. :cool: it's (almost) as good as caffeine!

I use to love System of a Down. They we're one of my favorite bands for some time. I still like them, but my musical tastes have changed.

Prison Song, Deer Dance, Chop Suey, This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song, Kill Rock & Roll and Needles are some of my favorites.

Too bad they're pretty much never getting back together.....:(

Ah, Serj Tankian is my hero. System of a Down are great (<3 Aerials), but his poetry. . so deep, and introspective. :)

Haha, I just looked down at what t-shirt I'm wearing and it's a SOAD concert one. :D 'Borrowed' it from my boyfriend a year ago. Super comfy. :cool:

I am hoping the hiatus from each other doesn't mean the end of them. There have been numerous interviews with the various band members. Supposedly they are not breaking up. But who knows, especially with Serj doing his thing and doing it very well at the moment and we haven't heard from the other members (music wise).
