So I came across someone who is looking to sell their 2008 8-core Mac Pro. And although I love mine, I just have so many expansion cards that I need to stuff in it, and I really could use the increased PCIE lane speeds on the new machine.
So would anyone be interested in my current Mac Pro? I love this machine and I have tricked it out, but I'm looking to bring a lot of it over to the new machine if I go this route. So I would be more interested in selling it in its base configuration.
Let me know if interested. it also has Apple Care on it.

Base Refurbs for the 8-Core ran @$2500.
Considering it's stock with 7300GT Graphics and 1GB Ram, if that is all you include, I imagine that would be a fair price.

Thanks, well I actually would add 2GB of RAM as base (as that comes with the new machine, and I would just transfer it as I want to carry over my 16GB of RAM) plus I also have the X1900XT added as well, along with a 500GB HD.
That would be my lowest base offering :D
All this along with AppleCare is the baseline that I can offer.
What would be a fair price for this you'd say? I'm trying to minimize any expenses in attaining the new machine as the only real reason I'm thinking about it is the added PCIE lanes. Otherwise, I absolutely have been satisfied with the machine!

$2650?
Pretty sure that you could get more on eBay, but the Fee's might negate some of that advantage.
X1900XT helps the price a little. RAM and HDD's are so cheap now that they add little real value to the machine.

Man, I'd love that, I think $2650 would probably be a good price for your config, but sadly I'm in the process of building the desktop in my sig (Putting everything together tomorrow!) Good luck!

While your old 16GB will run on the new machine, it's a bit of a waste... as it would slow the machine down a bit. The RAM you have is PC2-5300 667MHz and the new Mac Pro's use PC2-6400 800MHz RAM.
Just thought you'd like to know...

thanks for the info. I already new this ... the barefeats test showed a fairly minimal speed loss using 667 instead of 800 (maximum 4% loss). I think I can deal with that as opposed to spending all the money on newer RAM.
As of now though, I may just keep my current setup as it works well. But if anyone is interested in it, let me know.
