I have 3 accounts on my computer (10.5.2, latest Safari), and 2/3 work with eBay (.co.uk and .com) fine. These 2 accounts are an admin, and standard account.

But, on one of the accounts (simplified, parental controlled, but websites aren't limited, just apps), they eBay.co.uk or .com homepage loads fine, but when the user clicks any of the "sign in" buttons/links, Safari displays the error "Safari cannot find the server". All other websites work fine.

I've emptied cache, history, and cookies, restarted many times etc., but it's always the same just on this account.

Can anyone help? 🙂

One other thing I do when I have problems like this:

go to Terminal and type the following:

sudo periodic daily weekly monthly

then hit return. That should do some more cleanup. You could repair permissions too.

Just something I do before considering deleting preference files.

Curiously, changing the account to a Standard (from Parental Controlled) immediately cured the issue!
