So I notice when I do my compressing using Compressor 3, that when I have quickclusters activated with 8 instances, it uses up pretty much all my 8-cores for processing, yet is allocating a menial amount of RAM to each instance. I've seen others do this and have seen over 1GB used per instance.
Does anyone know why mines uses so little RAM per instance? Is there something I'm missing here?

Does anyone have experience here with Compressor 3?

Not sure why your having this problem. First be sure you are rendering from Compressor exclusively, not via FCP. Also, in the qmaster prefrences in the control panel, make sure you have Services Only checked off with the Share box checked off in the services below, not managed. This may help. Also, know that enabling 7 cores will actually be faster since it should free up room for the operating system to work as well.
