Hi, I recently got a Dell 24" 2408WFP. I noticed that the image on the display is significantly better when my MBP's display is closed and off.

Has anyone else noticed this?

It seems as if the display it self gets a bit more blurry. Also, I double checked to make sure the resolution was 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz, Millions of colors with and without the MBP being open.

Is there a print screen function key on macs? I'm wondering if a screen shot of the two screens will show a difference (though my guess is it won't).

don't know what's causing your problem as i'm unfamiliar with Dell displays, but the key combo for print screen in cmd+shift+3. i doubt a print screen will show us anything as your issue is likely caused by hardware. have you tried checking the connections between the computer and the display?

I'm guessing this is an issue with mirroring and scaling the MBP's resolution the higher res of the display. When the MBP is closed it's no longer mirroring and should be at it's correct resolution.

Actually...when you use two monitors, the VRAM is equally split between the monitors. This means when the MBP is closed, it can utilize all of the graphics card. Just to note: I've ran a 24inch LCD just fine, never noticed the OP's problem.

Isn't that only while in mirror mode?

To the OP, are you in mirror mode?
