Macbook Crack

I have a crack/ hole in my macbook on the left side. It was formed by the magnets and the bumper on the top of the screen. Apparently this is very common. How much would this cost to get fixed?

It looks like the image bellow except on the left side.

Take it to an apple store, they should fix it free of charge.

Would they really fix it free of charge? Because I heard that it could cost over 200 bucks to fix. 😱 I heard this by a video on youtube.

if they determine it was your fault it won't be free

if it is a "known" design flaw and it's common they will

They fixed my roommates free of charge, they said it is a known existing problem with the MB.

Its about $220 with tax, but your warranty covers it. Good luck.

This happened to me, and it was replaced free of charge!

However, it has just happened AGAIN!

Now I have to take it back to Apple and be without it for a few days again, this is a pretty persistant design flaw.

There was the topcase discolouration, anyone remember that?

Now the topcase is cracking, does anyone know if this is a recent problem, it's only seems to be happening to SR models...

Known defect. If they have the part in stock, it will take about an hour to replace at an Apple Store free of charge. I just got the top replaced on my sister's macbook. The genius says they've improved the quality of the tops, so it should be less likely to happen again. I'm not sure on their policy for out of warranty, though, but even if you are out of warranty, schedule a meeting with a genius and see if they'll help you.
