Hello all,
I'm a recent windows switcher, and I'm loving life on the mac side. I currently run a mac mini C2D with Front Row as a media server, handling all of my music and ripped movies. I'm looking to build a media server with a RAID 5 array and 3-4 TBs of storage capabilities. I would love some advice as to the best way to go about accomplishing this to run with a mac. I would like it to be NAS, but this isn't a necessity as I can just share it through the mini or my airport extreme for my two other mac book pros to view the files. I definitely don't have the cash to spend on an xserve, so would like to build a system from scratch. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

dont know if this helps but i use a qnap ts409 to do what your after.
it uses raid 5 and emails me if there are any issues.
i can yank ANY drive and slap in a new one without losing ANY data!
