Photoshop CS3 takes ages to create new document

I've got the CS3 suite installed on 10.5.2 running on a Macbook Pro. I've had it for about 2 weeks now, and when I go to create a new document in Photoshop 🙂apple: + N) it beach balls for ages. Takes 30 seconds or more sometimes. It's only started doing this.

I've rebooted and everything. Even tried it with just Photoshop running. It's really annoying.

Another thing is Text Edit sometimes takes ages to start a new document.

Anyone have any solutions?
