There's never enough hours in the day for me to get all the things I need to get done. I wish I could sleep more than 7 hours a night.

i'm about 7 hours during the week. i'd like to have 8 hours of actual sleep, but i usually lay in bed and stare at the ceiling for an hour every night. :p or at least it seems like that.

last year when i was going to college i was getting about 5-6 hrs sleep in the week. i said to myself i'd never do that again, but i'm going back to the same college next year. oh well...

i really feel sorry for the people that only get about 3 hours of sleep, that must feel really horrible...

at least it's good to see that the majority have around 7 hours, give or take. :)

6 mostly - if I'm lucky I'll get 7. But its usually off to bed around midnight and up at 6 or so.

Unfortunately its the same on the weekends....

Wow, I envy all of you who get even eight hours a day. I try for it, but I always seem to go to sleep an hour and a half later than I intend, and wake up an hour and a half earlier than I want to... Leaving me with about five hours a night.

for years i only got about 5 hours a night, but now i'm realizing how awesome sleep is when you actually get it (same for nookie, but that's a different story), so i've been making myself go to bed earlier so i've been getting 7 hours on average for a while now... and it's good.

During the week I'm lucky if I get six hours. I usually don't get home from work until close to 6pm and I need a lot of downtime for recreation and "stuff" in the evenings. I keep telling myself I'll try to go to bed by midnight, but I rarely ever am in bed before 1am and often even as late as 2am. I get up around 7am which isn't easy but once I've had a shower I'm ok. I require huge amounts of caffiene as soon as I get to work though. :)

Speaking of which... time for that now!

C[_]`'`'`'`

Weekends however... 9/10/11 hours a stretch ;)

neut
Nov 3, 2003, 10:11 AM
i see how it is.

get up at 5:20am.

work-out / shower

at work by 7-7:30

get home 7-7:30

mary j, audio creation, and web dev.

sleep by 12:00

repeat.

if it wasn't for the weekends, excercise and mary j...i'd go crazy.

I've found that by waking myself roughly 30 minutes BEFORE going to sleep, I can actually get a negative number here. :D

Usually around 3-4 hours a night, if I'm lucky.

Insomnia sucks, in case you were wondering.

...5, if I can sleep.

At least once a week I can't sleep... :-(

Insomnia sucks more than most anything I can think of... except when I had insomnia, no computer, and I was recovering from reconstructive shoulder surgery!

I hear that the ideal amount of sleep is 9 hours per night, not 8 like previously thought.

Myself, I used to hit pretty close to 8 hours per night while at school (I tried 9... but in bed by 10pm doesn't really appeal to me), but recently a spate of deadlines has pushed this back to no more than 6 a night, if I'm lucky.

I blame Panther for some of the recent diminished sleep though :-) The first night I got it, I stayed up late migrating from Jaguar.

When I was in the university, had no more than 5 hours a day, weekends only 6, When started to work, fine, 8 - 9 hours/day, got married and child, 5.5-6.5 , my 1st child grew up and got up to 8, since almost 1 year, got a new child and since then 5-5.5 ... ... just hope to continue with 7-8 hours /day, would be nice.

My G5 just came in yesterday. It's my first Mac since my G3 Wallstreet powerbook, and it's been a year since I sold my PC...so I've been working with my partner's Win2000 box for a year. Now I've got a G5 and a 17" studio display. I think I'll have a lot of late nights at that machine from now on...

Even having 2 kids, one 2.5 and one 9 months, I get about 8 hours normally. In bed around 11 and up by 7. It's nice that I can go to bed and fall asleep fairly quick so I don't have the problem of laying in bed awake for an extended period.

I almost always go to sleep quickly. I can probably just look at a pillow and be unconscious in seconds.

Congratulations RealityMonster on your new G5. Sleep is still very important. You will accomplish much more with an adequate amount of sleep.

Doctor Q, maybe by the time you hit 116, they will have a good way to get ride of those wrinkles.

Here's how it happened.

Back in 'tha day' when I was a competitive swimmer, I needed 8+ a night. Then one of my college psych classes mentioned a study where college students stayed awake 3 hours, then slept for one, awake for 3, slept for one, etc. So about a dozen of the people in my class tried it, and it worked great. But it was hell on our social lives, "Oh, I can go party tonight, but I have to sleep for an hour around 10pm, then I can party til 2".

The other thing was that I'd get bored, so I picked up a nasty habit of trying to do zillions of things. I went home over the summer, and fell out of habit doing it. But I kept the habit of doing waaay more than I normally had time for, and I didn't have time for it anymore.

Today I sleep about 3-4 hours a night, max. Mainly due to SuperCard 4's release, and about a zillion apps I haven't written that I'd like to.

Usually around 5.5-7 hrs per day. I commit myself to going to bed at 10:30 on weekdays, but I often will not fall asleep until approx. 12:00am or so. On sundays it is the worst for me, as I rarely fall asleep by even 12am; I just think too much during that time :)

If i could only turn off my superfluous thinking when I am trying to fall asleep I think that would help :)

On average I will go to bed at 10:30, but not fall asleep until 11:30-ish and awaken every weekday at 5:50, so lets just call it an average of 6 hrs of sleep per night :)

Lets see: that's about the time i bought my brand new $2000 micron PC, then a $4700 G4 (w/ accessories), and spent at least $200 a week on alcohol and cover charges. :) oh yeah, not to mention a brand new house, baby and girlfriend...and yes, i have managed to pay all that off...except for the house of course.

i only go out on weekends and take the weekends to sleep off the the week

but ya, last few weeks and few weeks to come are like going to be like that

sometimes i'm just stupid, rather then studing and go to sleep i procrastinate, and then when i have nothing to do, i just watch tv ... i waste time, and thats my own fault

Can't ever sleep before 1am, no point in even thinking about it, get to bed around 1:30 most nights, up at 7ish, feeling like baked *****.

It doesn't matter how much sleep i get, I always feel crap in the morning, 2 hours, 10 hours I feel the same, so 5-6 hours is good.

I once stayed awake for 76 hours on a mix-down, I was hallucinating by the end:D

WinterMute you should try the routine of sleeping for 2 days and stay awake for 2 days. Never know you might just live to be 116 years old like the oldest living person that died in Japan recently. :p It's getting into a routine that helps!

It doesn't matter how much sleep I do or do not get, I'm still wide awake from 8pm to 2am. I sleep best when it's light outside. Frankly, I've never had a consistent sleep schedule. I think I run on a clock that is longer than 24 hours. Probably 28-30 hours.

Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, who does most of his film editing at home where he has two kids, sleeps while his kids are at school, spends the evening with them, and then works all night while they sleep. If I ever get to work at home, I think I'll go with that, although my wife might not like it much.
