Routine Maintenance

Being a PC user for several years, I can't help but ask. What if any routine maintenance needs to be run on a Mac? And are there any good sw programs out there that does this?
 
Alot people use the terminal to repair permissions or run maintenance scipts ,some use the disk utility to repair
permissions me,i use either OnyX or MainMenu
 
If you take it into the Genius Bar for a "yearly tune-up," they will clean up everything (defragment) which will make it go faster. I think the people at Apple use DiskWarrior which you can purchase for $99. Once Apple did this, my computer went much faster.
 
I don't think you can defrag a mac just like on a windows computer. I have never done that. I have repaired permissions, cleared cache, history but that is about it. I haven't ever really had any need to defrag after I did the above. Welcome to the world of macs. It is alot easier than windows. Trust me on this. I have had mine for over a year and have never regretted it. My only regret is having to use windows at work.🙄
