Time Capsule Question

Does Time Capsule save wireless backups as sparse images? Just wondering ...

(Currently, I have an external drive hooked up to my Mac Mini and I'm using that as a Time Machine drive for my MacBook. The Mac Mini backups are just in the regular Backups.backupdb folder, but the MacBook backup is in a sparse image file.
