Hi, I just got the new spanking all new MBP 2.5 Ghz middle model with 512mb of vram...

had a quick question though...

Is Vista faster than XP under Bootcamp? I heard a lot that Vista runs THE BEST on the Macbook Pro...

Also, how come the touchpad MULTIPAD doesn't work on XP? Must I install new drivers of some sort?

Thanks in advance- I know this is a lot of questions but please bear with me :(

edit*
also is there any way to get 1440x900 on the windows partition on bootcamp? I have to go under 1900x blah blah (forgot) and it's too small... like the start button and whatnot...

if I format and go vista, then will it work?
thanks!

OK

edit #2***

and also, I seem to be having some WIFI issues on the windows xp side of my mac... like it will be connection failure after 30 minutes of using the wireless... is there like an updated driver for that broadcom driver or should i just stick with the one i have installed already from the leopard disc?

thanks!

Xp, or vista? Vista is the future?

I have a new MBP and am interested in running Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD 08, and 3ds MAX. I have seen people having issues with registering autodesk products in bootcamp under both vista and xp. the real question is do i spend $134 to get WXPsp2, and know the pain im in for, of do i get vista home for $99 and jump into a unforeseen world of pain and confusion?

Does anyone think that the price on xp will change soon? Will developers stop making APPs for xp in the near future? How long will apple support bootcamp?

Which is faster, i guess that depends on how well the application works with the os. Vista is new and demanding, xp is...well still xp. Tried and true is better that a new ploy to dominate a confused market.

new evil VS old evil..hmmm, but new evil is much more shinny :D

Vista is not as horrible as everyone says. I say for anything besides gaming, Vista is the way to go...all software is pretty much being developed for Vista now-a-days so just stick Vista on there. SP1 just came out and fixed a bunch of bugs...most people do not have any problems with Vista, it's mostly the fan boys that complain about it.
EDIT: Multitouch doesn't work with XP because the OS and the software won't support it. If you notice, multitouch doesn't work with EVERY application for OS X, but it works with most. I can scroll through pages with my MT in XP but that's because most PCs have a scroll feature on their trackpads...its supported.

I do not have the Penryn MBP, what I have is a generation older, SR MBP what people say.
I ran into the dilemma like you do now. I ended up installing Vista Ultimate in my BC partition and it works perfectly fine up until now.
The one thing that's slowing Vista down usually the VRAM and/or the RAM itself. Seeing you have 512MB VRAM, I don't see why not installing Vista?
I know it's still early in Vista year, but you've got many years coming ahead of you with Vista compared to what you're going to have with XP. Plus, Vista looks better than XP (if you don't count anything else and just display).

At the end of the day, you've got to ask yourself; which one do you want the most? Seeing you're posting, I can sense you want Vista but reluctant because of the bad news about it.

Whatever you choose, be happy about it. I think that's the most important.
