i only have an external hd, no airport\time capsule, so i only do backups once per day. i noticed that my backups were still pretty large, even though i wasn't changing much. so, i just backed up, deleted a few things off my desktop and immediately backed up again. total backup size: 2.4 gb. does anyone know why the size is so large? just curious.

also, in the past i kept time machine backups and used time machine to restore my hard drive when i replaced it with a larger one. for some reason, time machine restored my hard drive as it was over a month ago. i was sure that it had made the backups, because on my old hard drive i had opened time machine and seen the day-by-day changes. any clue as to why that may have happened?
